Post Gazette Story

Hot off the press- a writeup in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette (Food Section):
Caffe Intermezzo expands, adds top-shelf espresso machine, coffee

Here’s the picture (photo by Dominic Demangone) that I wanted to see but they opted for the “action” shot. From left to right you have DJ, Luke, Alexis.

The cool thing is that several new customers found us today after reading it so if you haven’t already, stop in and give us a try!

The next shot is a bird’s eye view (or a mezzanine view if you will) of our downtown shop (photo by Rob Harkey)…

Second Location Now Open Downtown!

On November 1st, 2006, we opened our second location in the historic Frick Building in downtown Pittsburgh! Here are some facts about our new location:

  • The Frick Building Shop is open Monday through Friday, 7am through 4pm
  • We offer espresso drinks, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, chai, steamers, and a fine selection of pastries
  • Our shop is located in the first floor lobby of the Frick Building
  • The Frick Building is located at 437 Grant Street, between Fifth and Forbes, across from the Allegheny County Courthouse
  • At our downtown location we feature Pennsylvania’s first Synesso Cyncra Espresso machine!
    • The Cyncra features an electronic temperature control that allows us to brew our espresso shots to within half a degree Fahrenheit of a predefined temperature. This ensures that we are able to consistently brew each shot of espresso at the ideal temperature for that particular blend and roast.
    • The Cyncra also features a preinfusion setting that is used to swell the coffee puck evenly before the brew pressure is applied and create a more thorough extraction.
    • The Cyncra is also one great looking machine!
