More coffee than you can shake a stick at…

The three time winner of the Tres Santos Micro-Lot competition, La Planada is here.  Get down here and try it while it lasts.  We also just got in the Rwanda Golden Cup Blend as we anxiously await the new Direct Trade Rwanda from Intelli. We are also rocking the Eros blend for all you coffee lovers out there.

Having said that, the brew bar menu is getting a little full.  At this moment we have 11 coffees… all within a week of their roast date… ready to be ground and brewed fresh to order just for you.

The coffee menu gets a facelift…

This week our coffee menu gets a little more informative- we think you’re ready for it.

We’ve added some tasting notes next to each coffee on the menu to help you make your decision about which coffee to try.  There are so many great choices on the menu, however, that you may want to try them all.

This week added some coffees as well- bringing back the very popular Los Delirios and introducing the latest Peruvian coffee- Cruz del Sur.  We also have an awesome new seasonal blend to celebrate with your Valentine (only through February).  Finally we’ve added a new decaf Sumatra in place of the decaf Black Cat.  If you still want the Decaf Black Cat it’ll always be around as we use it for our espresso drinks… just ask.

Now featuring:

cruzdelsur.gifThe Southern Cross…

“From two growing regions of Peru, Chirinos and Tingo Maria, our Cruz del Sur provides a refined and elegant cup. This coffee is defined by its peaceful and balanced acidity of lime and green grapes. The sweetness comes across gently as cane sugar, light molasses and fresh pear. The body is affable and soft as it finishes with hints of milk chocolate and honeysuckle.”

Enjoy everyone!

Tres Santos Micro Lot-La Dorada

The second of three fantastic Tres Santos Micro Lots we will be featuring is arriving this afternoon.

“Golden, as its name suggests, the Tres Santos Cauca Micro-Lot, La Dorada, augustly displays a front-forward candied maple sweetness with undertones of mandarin oranges and red cherries.  The firm chocolate body provides support for its impressive balance between notes of molasses, tree nuts and caramelized sugar. The finish is delicate, leaving you with hints of sweet cocoa to remember it by.”

For those of you unfamiliar with the Micro Lot terminology- think of it as a “best in show”.  The three Micro Lots we will feature were chosen blindly from well over a hundred submissions for the Tres Santos program.  The Tres Santos Direct Trade Coffee has been one of our best sellers every time it is featured on our menu and now we get a chance to try the cream of the crop.

Tres Santos - El Portal Micro Lot

tres_santos_map_07.gif

Tres Santos, Colombia, has been one of most popular direct trade coffees since its debut on our menu. Today we’re excited to offer the first in a series of three micro-lots. Think of them as the “best in show” of the Tres Santos coffee competition.

First up… El Portal

From Intelligentsia’s tasting notes:

“…Smooth baker’s chocolate body with every sip. Black cherry and sweet tobacco accompany notes of apple skin while its sturdy acidity segues into a lingering finish of nutmeg and cocoa.”

Last Brew Bar Update for ‘07

Take a look at our current coffees on the brew bar menu.  Everything is super-fresh and ground/brewed to order with precision on the area’s only Clover.

  • El Cuervo, Guatemala has been temporarily replaced by Los Inmortales, El Salvador.  The Guatemala is still in season and we will feature it again.
  • Abongabong, Sumatra is out of season and has been replaced by New Guinea.  It’s reminiscent of what Jamaican Blue Mountain used to taste like.
  • We have a new Kenya lot (Mathareini) for you to try…
  • Last call for the very popular Celebration Blend- The “Old Man Winter Blend” is on his way…

Thanks to all of our customers, friends, and family for helping to make 2007 such an enjoyable and successful year!

Just a reminder- we’ll be closing at noon on New Year’s Eve and will be closed New Year’s day.
