Just a reminder for residents of the Cork Factory Lofts- we’ll be providing coffee and pastries this coming Sunday, June 17th from 8am to 10:30am at the Cork Factory.
For everyone else, our shop at 2018 Smallman Street in the Strip will also be open on 6/17 from 8am to noon.
Just a reminder, we’ll be open this Sunday June 10th for “St. Anthony’s” Festival. I couldn’t find a link to any sort of website, so you’ll just have to trust me that it’s going to happen. 21st Street will most likely be blocked off, so come on down for your usual drink but please understand that we don’t speak italiano.

Many of you know about our punch card system, but I wanted to take a moment to explain how it works.
The punch card (as seen on right)
The punch card is a reward to our loyal customers. It is also an easy way for a customer to try something they have never had before. Drink coffee every day? Try a latte. Mix it up.
The Loyalty/Prepaid/Gift Card
This is a permanent “Customer Card” that works in much the same manner as the punch card, but has the following advantages:
The card works really well if you don’t like to carry cash and are in a hurry most mornings. We can put any amount on it you’d like and store your usual drink on our system. Then each day just hand us the card, we swipe it, pull up your usual drink, and charge it against your prepaid balance. This also saves you from having to carry around change or sign credit card receipts.
And regarding privacy, we only ask for your name or an alias you’ll remember. The info is not used for anything other than providing you with the best service possible.
Having been in business at the Frick Building for 7 months now (that went fast), it was time for our 6 month preventative maintenance. After several thousand drinks you need to take care of your equipment so it is up and running every day in top condition.
These non-emergency service calls can only be scheduled during normal business hours and so we chose 11am today to get our Synesso serviced. Basically needed to replace some gaskets in the group heads (where the espresso is brewed) and in the steam wands (where the milk is steamed). It went down on schedule and although I didn’t set a time frame for getting it completed, we were unable to make drinks again until about 3pm. To anyone that stopped by for an espresso drink or milk based drink- sorry. Understand that our first priority is to ensure that we can provide our customers with the best quality drinks every day. If we have to turn away some business for a few hours to make sure everything is running properly for the next six months… well we think the downtime is worth it.
By the way, if you ever need to get your commercial espresso equipment serviced- call Espresso Solutions. They’re based in Pittsburgh and they are the best in the area by far. They are part of the same group of companies as Pittsburgh’s Coffee Tree Roasters. Great people to work with. This was the first time anyone has worked on a Synesso in Pennsylvania and they really took the time to make sure the job was done right.
